I've had an E-bow since 1994 and it has been a part of my rig off and on since then. Recently I lent mine to someone who accidently dropped it on a concrete floor breaking the casing. While it still worked I had jerry rig it with tape to keep the battery inside. I stopped into Tone Tailors and John and Glen were able to help me get another one. I was a bit skeptical because the newer version has two modes instead of the original that only has an on/off switch in the original. They also were cool with me bringing in my guitar and sit for a half hour trying it out while I compared my old one with a new one.
The new one is fantastic. It has a higher frequency switch so I can reach those higher pitches instantly without having to manipulate the E-bow like I used to. It can still get those flute, cello and horn sounds that I have used for years in my solo's.
If you're looking for something different and sustain for hours this is something you have to try.
