The Alvarez MD60EBG Bluegrass is widely considered one of the best "bang-for-your-buck" acoustic guitars on the market. It is an all-solid wood dreadnought specifically voiced to compete with much more expensive "Bluegrass Cannons" like the Martin D-18.

The "E" in the name signifies that this model includes onboard electronics, whereas the standard MD60BG is purely acoustic.

All-Solid Tonewoods: It features a Solid AA Sitka Spruce top paired with Solid African Mahogany back and sides. This classic combo delivers a punchy, fundamental-rich tone with clear trebles and a "woody" bass.

FST2 Bracing: Alvarez uses a "Forward Shifted, Scalloped X" bracing system. By moving the X-brace closer to the soundhole, the soundboard has more room to vibrate, resulting in significantly more volume and a more responsive bass than a standard dreadnought.

The "Clarence White" Influence: The guitar features an enlarged soundhole and a slightly extended fingerboard, a nod to the legendary modified 1935 Martin D-28 played by Clarence White and Tony Rice. This modification shifts the EQ toward the mid-range, helping the guitar "cut" through a mix.
