The Carvin AE185 is one of the most famous "hybrid" guitars ever made. Introduced in 1994, it was designed specifically for guitarists who need to switch between convincing acoustic tones and high-gain electric sounds in a single instrument
The "secret sauce" of the AE185 is its dual pickup system and sophisticated wiring:

- Acoustic Side: An under-saddle piezo pickup (LR Baggs or Carvin F60) paired with an ebony acoustic-style bridge.
