The Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton Signature has become one of Martin’s most enduring artist models, combining traditional Style 28 construction with the comfortable proportions and short scale of a 000 body. This guitar is stage ready.
Built in Nazareth, Pennsylvania in 2013, this example features a solid Sitka spruce top paired with solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, delivering the rich low end, complexity and clarity that make the rosewood 000 such a versatile instrument. The smaller Auditorium-size body and 24.9" scale length make it particularly comfortable for fingerstyle playing while retaining plenty of projection for flatpicking and accompaniment.
The mahogany neck features Martin’s Modified-V profile, a 1 3/4" bone nut, and an ebony fingerboard with traditional diamonds-and-squares inlays. Eric Clapton’s signature is inlaid near the end of the fingerboard. Other appointments include an ebony bridge, scalloped X-bracing, herringbone top purfling, tortoise-pattern pickguard, open-gear tuners, compensated bone saddle, and gloss natural finish with Martin’s warm aging toner.
This guitar has been fitted with a K&K acoustic pickup, a popular passive system that keeps the guitar’s appearance clean while making it ready for amplified performance.
The guitar presents very well for a 13-year-old instrument. The finish has developed an attractive warm amber appearance, and the East Indian rosewood back and sides show beautiful straight grain. Based on our inspection and the condition shown, there are no highly irregular cosmetic defects evident; normal signs of careful use should be expected on a pre-owned instrument.
Includes its original Martin hardshell case.
