Used Effectrode Tube Vibe

A vintage Uni-Vibe gets its unique "chewing" phase-shifter tone from a specific combination of a pulsating internal light bulb and four light-sensitive photocells. Effectrode kept this core magic but wrapped it in a highly advanced tube preamp circuit:

• Three Vacuum Tubes: The pedal features three dual-triode tubes (typically a mix of 12AU7 and 12AX7 tubes) operating at high voltage. This tube buffer acts as a pristine, warm preamp stage. It adds a lush, three-dimensional harmonic richness and natural compression that transistor-based vibes simply cannot replicate.
• True Photocell Modulation: Just like the original 1960s units, a microscopic internal lamp and four photocells create the phasing filters. The natural lag of the light bulb filament warming up and cooling down gives the sweep its distinct, asymmetrical "throb."
• Zero Loading (High Impedance): The tube input stage has a massive input impedance. This means it won't "suck" your guitar's high frequencies or tone, even when placed first in your signal chain.

Core Controls & Sound Modes

The Tube-Vibe uses an elegant, classic layout with large chicken-head knobs and dual toggle switches on the rear/sides:

• Speed: Controls the rate of the LFO sweep from a slow, syrupy crawl to a fast, watery rotary wobble.
• Intensity: Adjusts the depth of the modulation sweep—how dramatically the filters sweep through your frequencies.
• Volume: Controls the output level of the tube preamp. It has plenty of gain on tap to act as a warm, tube-driven boost.
• Vibe / Chorus Switch:
  • Chorus Mode: The classic, asymmetrical Uni-Vibe watery "throb" made famous by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock ("Star-Spangled Banner") and Robin Trower ("Bridge of Sighs").
  • Vibrato Mode: Cancels the dry signal, leaving only pure, warbly pitch-modulation. Perfect for glassy, ethereal textures.
• Classic / Smooth Switch:
  • Classic: Replicates the vintage, slightly notched, and uneven response of the original 1960s Shin-ei units.
  • Smooth: A flatter, more linear LFO wave shape that provides a modern, symmetrical, and studio-clean phase sweep.
