The Electro-Harmonix Op-Amp Big Muff Pi (often called the "Pumpkin" or Pumpkins-style Muff) is a faithful re-creation of the legendary late-1970s circuit made famous by Billy Corgan on Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream. Unlike standard transistor-based Big Muffs, it utilizes an operational amplifier (op-amp) architecture and multiple gain stages to deliver a uniquely crushing, wall-of-sound fuzz and sustain.
