The Electro-Harmonix Attack Decay is a "Tape Reverse Simulator" that gives you synthesizer-style control over the volume envelope of your guitar. Originally a rare 1980s cult classic, the modern reissue expands on the original’s "auto-swell" capabilities with digital power and polyphonic tracking.

It is essentially a sophisticated noise gate in reverse, allowing you to sculpt how a note starts (Attack) and how it ends (Decay).

Attack & Decay Knobs: These are the heart of the pedal.
- Attack: Controls the "fade-in" speed (4ms to 8s). High settings create slow, violin-like swells.
- Decay: Controls the "fade-out" speed. Short settings create a "staccato" or banjo-like pluck, while long settings allow for natural sustain.
Mono vs. Poly Modes:
- Mono: Tracks one envelope at a time. Playing a new note resets the swell (classic 80s behavior).
- Poly: Uses HOG2-style technology to give every note in a chord its own independent envelope. This allows for massive, pad-like textures where notes overlap beautifully.
Built-in Harmonix Fuzz: A dedicated distortion circuit with its own Gain, Tone, and Volume mini-knobs. It’s designed to add "edge" to your swells, helping to mimic the sound of a bowed cello or a saturated synth.
