The brand was officially established around 2005 in El Salvador. The venture began with significant backing from an economic development initiative funded by USAID’s Export Promotion Program. The goal was to help economically disadvantaged, highly talented local Salvadoran artisans band together to scale their production, access global markets, and build premium-grade instruments

The name "Paax Muul" is derived from the regional Mayan language and translates directly to "Music of the Volcanoes"—a nod to the striking volcanic geography of El Salvado

The standout feature of this specific 2006 build is the elevated fingerboard geometry (sometimes called a raised fingerboard).

• The Mechanics: Instead of the fingerboard sitting flush against the guitar's body top wood, the neck angle and upper bout are specifically engineered so the fingerboard hovers slightly above the soundboard.
• The Performance Advantage: This design provides unprecedented access to the upper frets (the 12th fret and beyond), making complex, high-register classical repertoire vastly easier to play.
• Acoustic Benefits: By raising the fingerboard, it changes the string angle relative to the bridge and allows the soundboard to vibrate completely unimpeded by the extra mass of an attached fretboard extension. This typically results in increased volume, faster transient response, and greater projection.

Because this was a showcase tier for the cooperative in 2006, these models were given the premium wood selections from their aging benches:

• Top: Premium Solid Canadian Cedar or European Spruce. These tops were carved intentionally thin and braced aggressively to maximize the projection gains of the raised neck design.
• Back & Sides: High-grade solid Rosewood or premium local Central American tonewoods featuring highly figured grain patterns.
• Finish: These upper-tier artisan instruments usually featured thin, breathable lacquer or satin neck coats rather than thick polyester finishes, keeping the instrument highly resonant.
