The most defining physical trait of the Legend 5 is its use of the famous NS body shape.Designed by Ned Steinberger and Stuart Spector in the late 1970s, this curved, carved silhouette contours tightly to the player’s body, offering exceptional comfort whether sitting or standing.
Body & Wood Selection: On modern iterations (like the Legend Standard), the body core is constructed from solid, lightweight Ash paired with a highly figured Flame Maple top. Older versions (Classic/Custom) frequently featured Mahogany or solid Maple bodies with Quilted Maple veneers.
The Neck Construction: To manage the added tension of a low B string, the modern Legend 5 utilizes a robust, 5-piece Bolt-On Maple and Padauk neck.It features a full 35-inch scale length, which provides the extra tension required to keep the low B snappy, clear, and focused rather than muddy or loose.
Fretboard: It sports a 24-fret Amara Ebony (or Rosewood on legacy models) fingerboard with a flat, fast 16-inch radius.
