The Strymon NightSky is a radical, experimental "Time-Warped Reverberator" designed for deep sound design and ambient texturing.Moving far beyond traditional room or plate simulations, it behaves more like an ambient synthesizer workstation, giving you hands-on control over the pitch, processing rate, harmonics, and filtering of your reverb tails.
Core Architecture & Decay Section
Three Reverb Textures:
Sparse:A granular-sounding space great for catching staccato notes or rendering clean, distinct reflections.
Dense:A fast-responding, plate-like reflection structure that easily transforms into thick ambient washes.
Diffuse:A slow-building, atmospheric envelope that excels at lush ambient pads, swells, and reverse-like textures.
Variable Process Rate (Size / Pitch):Decouples pitch from decay time. As you change the core size, it actively shifts the pitch of the reverb up or down over a 2.5-octave range. This can be smooth, stepped to half-steps, or quantized to selectable musical scales.
Length:Adjusts decay time from under a second to near-infinite sustain.
Modulation, Voice, & Harmonic Controls
Modulation Section (MOD):Features selectable LFO waveforms (Triangle, Square, Ramp, Saw, Random, and Envelope follower) to modulate the reverb core, pitch/size, or filter sweeps.
Shimmer:Pitch-shifts the reverb tail up or down (spanning a full 2-octave range from -1 to +1 octave) and can be configured to process either continuously or non-regeneratively.
Glimmer:Dynamically enhances high or low-frequency harmonics to add synth-like overtones and a dreamy, reactive character to your playing.
Drive:Places pre- or post-reverb saturation into the signal chain, letting you break up your reverb trails with harmonic grit.
Synth-Like Low Pass Filter:Sculpt your high-end with an adjustable variable-resonance filter for dark or blooming sweeps.
Built-In Step Sequencer
8-Step Pitch Sequencer:A standout performance feature that lets you program rhythmic pitch variations into the reverb tail.
You can tune steps to specific semitones or scale intervals with variable glide (portamento) times to create repeating melodic ambient sequences
