Used ThorpyFX Six Zero Fuzz Trem

The ThorpyFX Six-Zero is a spectacular, purely analog "decade-spanning" machine that marries a fierce vintage fuzz with a lush, pulsating tremolo.

Originally designed as a limited-run collaboration with Andertons Music to celebrate their 60th anniversary, its massive popularity led Thorpy to make it a permanent, mainline addition to their lineup. The design concept is a brilliant piece of historical reimagining: "What if a premium, dual-engine pedal was designed in the 1960s with 2020s-level engineering standards?"

The result is a devastatingly cool, deceptively simple four-knob powerhouse encased in Thorpy's signature, bomb-proof laser-cut metal enclosure

The Two Halves: Fuzz & Tremolo

1. The Fuzz: An MKI Tone Bender Reimagined (Silicon-Style)

The fuzz engine is modeled directly after the venerable, highly aggressive 1960s MKI Tone Bender.

• Germanium Vibe, Silicon Stability: Vintage MKI Tone Benders used temperamental germanium transistors that drift in tone with temperature changes. Thorpy designed the Six-Zero around highly stable silicon transistors, but meticulously tuned the circuit to maintain the sag, warm response, and rich harmonic chew of a vintage germanium unit.
• The Attack Knob: Unlike a standard linear "gain" control, the Attack knob sweeps through distinct eras of fuzz character. Lower settings are highly gated, velcro-like, and spitty—delivering that iconic front-end pick attack that abruptly cuts off. Turning it up leads to a harmonic "sweet spot" where the fuzz blooms with massive, liquid-like sustain and singing clarity.

2. The Tremolo: A Dan Coggins Classic

To construct the tremolo side, Thorpy team up with legendary analog circuit designer Dan Coggins (formerly of Lovetone).

• The Behavior: This is a modified version of one of Dan's very first discrete transistor tremolo designs. It features a warm, pulsing LFO wave that feels incredibly organic and amp-like.
• The Speed "Duck" Feature: If you physically spin the Rate control knob while playing, the tremolo effect is designed to "duck" out of the way before smoothly re-emerging at the new speed.
