Small enough for a desktop but built like a genuine tube amplifier, the Vox Lil' Night Train NT2H delivers classic Vox character at recording- and home-friendly volume. Its all-tube circuit uses two 12AX7 preamp tubes feeding a 12AU7 power stage for 2 watts into 16 ohms or approximately 1.5 watts into an 8-ohm cabinet. Gain, Bass, Treble and Volume controls keep the layout simple, while the Bright/Thick switch substantially changes the personality of the amp: Bright retains the EQ and familiar Vox sparkle, while Thick bypasses the tone circuit for increased gain and a fuller, more aggressive voice. A headphone/line output adds usefulness for late-night practice and direct recording. The distinctive diamond-cut chrome enclosure is part of what made the Night Train series memorable.
