Used Wampler Tape Echo

a highly respected, hybrid delay pedal designed to deliver the warm, warbly, and organic repeats of a vintage reel-to-reel tape machine without the high maintenance or fragile mechanics of actual tape.

Rather than going fully digital or relying on dark bucket-brigade analog chips, Wampler took a clever hybrid approach to capture this elusive sound.

The Architecture: Hybrid Signal Path

Wampler’s design relies on a dual-path layout to keep your core sound intact:

• Analog Dry Path: Your dry, unaffected guitar signal remains 100% analog from input to output. It is never converted to digital, preserving the touch-sensitivity and tone of your rig.
• Digital Delay Line: The pedal utilizes a highly filtered PT2399 digital delay chip solely to handle the repeating echoes (offering up to 800ms of delay time). Using digital for the echo line ensures pristine note clarity on the first few repeats.
• Analog Shaping: Once the echo is generated, the repeats are sent through an entirely analog filtering and modulation circuit to degrade, darken, and wobble just like old magnetic tape
