Whalehazard Andromeda – Vintage Amber Korina Custom Build
The Whalehazard Andromeda is a hand-built custom instrument that blends boutique craftsmanship, modern playability, and bold visual identity. Built by Whalehazard Guitars in South Minneapolis, this 2019 model pairs a solid korina body with a quarter-sawn cherry set neck, creating a resonant, articulate platform with warmth, clarity, and strong sustain. The finish is a striking vintage amber that highlights the organic character of the wood while giving the instrument a timeless, road-ready presence.
Designed with a 25.5-inch scale length and a comfortable 14-inch radius, the Andromeda offers a familiar but refined playing experience. It features 23 frets, a bone nut, and a Richlite fretboard and headplate, combining sleek feel, durability, and a modern aesthetic. The neck profile is listed as a thick “C,” giving the guitar substance in the hand without sacrificing speed or comfort. Gloss neck finish, premium fretwork, and careful hand assembly all point to an instrument built for serious players.
Visually, the Andromeda stands apart with custom inlay work that includes the signature Andromeda neck motif, a standard logo, and decorative mother-of-pearl, gold glitter, and stone elements. Gold hardware completes the look, including the Gotoh 510 wraparound bridge and Hipshot locking tuners, giving the guitar both elegance and stability. The overall design feels equally suited to stage performance, studio work, and collectors who appreciate one-of-a-kind boutique builds.
Tonally, this guitar is voiced for power and versatility. It is equipped with a pair of Righteous Sound Galaxy WRHB humbuckers in an HH configuration, wired passively with two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way toggle. That setup gives the instrument a wide range of usable sounds, from rich, open cleans to muscular overdrive, with the extended harmonic character and fullness players often seek from wide-range style humbuckers.
At approximately 8.3 pounds, the Andromeda offers the feel of a substantial solid-body instrument without becoming overly heavy. Included with the guitar are its spec sheet, a branded truss rod wrench or related accessories noted in the paperwork, and an RB Continental Voyager case or gig bag, depending on presentation. Originally listed at a show price of $2,950, this model reflects the level of detail, originality, and hand-built quality associated with boutique custom guitars.
